briefly
A husband, dad, pastor, designer, reader, thinker, and pretty nice guy located in Austin, TX. I like to make new things. And, if there was a competition for best oral interpretation of And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, I think I would win.
where to find me
- I serve as pastor and local theologian of Austin Mustard Seed, a church community start-up in Northwest Austin.
- I am a freelancer. I do some writing, but mostly I do WordPress design and consulting under the name of Strange Idea Labs.
- I am the creator of 501 Words, a site designed to help you get in a rhythm of writing every day.
- I blog on Creativityist about shaping both workflow and soul to enhance creativity, with an emphasis on the use of Apple products.
- Some Strange Ideas has been my personal blog since 2004. Most of my reflections there focus on theology, church leadership, books and life in Austin.
- I serve on the board of Help End Local Poverty because I love the work that they are doing with orphans in Africa and Haiti.
previously
- I developed and ran a Denver Broncos fan community called BroncosFreak with almost 2500 members.
- I was the co-host of a podcast on theology and culture with Zach Lind of Jimmy Eat World.
- I worked as an associate pastor at a church start-up called Pathways Church in the Seattle area and as a student pastor at Central Christian Church in metro Phoenix.
- I received an MA in Christian Studies from Mars Hill Grad School in Seattle and a BA in Christian Leadership from Hope International University in Southern California.
